Job Description

The position provides a structured, hands-on learning opportunity for an aspiring finance professional to gain foundational experience in the lending industry. The intern will support the Operations Department by assisting in the loan application lifecycle, focusing on accurate documentation, client follow-up, and overall client portfolio management.

Key Responsibilities

The Intern Loan Officer will perform duties under direct supervision, focusing on the following:

Application Processing Support: Assist in the initial screening of loan applications to ensure all required documentation is submitted and complete according to the checklist.

Data Management: Accurately enter and update client financial data and loan application information into the Loan Origination System.

Documentation & Filing: Organize and maintain physical and digital client credit files, ensuring audit-readiness and adherence to internal document retention policies.

Client Follow-up: Assist Loan Officers in scheduling client meetings, sending professional follow-up communication regarding missing documents, and answering basic procedural questions.

Credit Analysis Shadowing: Shadow Senior Loan Officers during the underwriting process, learning how to interpret basic financial statements.

Collections Support: Assist the collections team by generating daily reports of newly delinquent accounts and sending initial friendly payment reminders (non-confrontational communication).

Compliance Assistance: Ensure all client interactions and file documentation adhere to the company's internal ethics policy and local lending regulations.

Requirements

Education: Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a Diploma/ Certificate in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. (preferred)

Systems Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word). Familiarity with any CRM or accounting software is a plus.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili. Must be professional and courteous in dealing with sensitive client information.

Integrity: Demonstrated high ethical standards and commitment to handling confidential financial information responsibly.

Availability: Must be available to commit to the full duration of the internship.
